Atomic Learning

As part of a grant that was awarded to Pine River-Backus Schools, the District has subscribed to Atomic Learning.  Atomic Learning is a website where Pine River-Backus students and staff can search for technology related tutorials, projects and workshops.  From school go to the website and start your search:  http://www.atomiclearning.com

Links to some specific software:  At each link you will get a list of tutorial videos.  Find one that relates to what you are trying to do and watch it.  Most are 1-3 minutes long.

NASA Grant Awarded - PRB Robotics Team Forming

Good News!

PRBHS has recently been awarded a NASA grant for a PRB Robotics Team.  Additional funds have also been awarded our team from Dean Kamen, inventor of the Segway.  (USFirst Website)

Our team has started their own website.  Check out what they are working on:  http://prbrobotics.org

The robotics competition will allow Pine River-Backus students to be involved in an exciting, real world situation working together and utilizing skills to envision, design and create a robotic solution to a given challenge.

The competition challenge is nationwide.  There are a total of 1680 teams with 102 teams in Minnesota.  Teams compete at a regional level.

H1N1 Flu Information

Symptoms include:
  • fever (above 100 degrees)
  • cough
  • sore throat
  • stuffy nose
  • and in some cases diarrhea and vomiting

If your child comes down with these symptoms, they should stay home and avoid contact with other people as much as possible to keep from spreading the illness to others.

I have posted several information sheets to our school district web page (see below). Please take a look at them for further information or guidance. Please call our school nurse, Renata Remington - 587-8310, if your student should come down with these symptoms and she will provide guidance with regard to returning to school.

Thank you for your attention to this matter and please take care of yourself and your families during this challenging time. The steps you can take to protect yourself and others are simple, but cannot be repeated often enough:

  • Wash your hands, thoroughly and frequently. Use soap and water or an alcohol-based scrub.
  • Cover your face with a sleeve or a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
  • If you are sick, stay home from work, school, or other places where you may expose others to the virus.
